Covering Your Tracks – 19

Every year or so Fearless Records releases a Various Artists comp called Punk Goes… that features punk (and punkish) bands doing covers from a period or genre. The first was 2000’s Punk Goes Metal. One of the more recent releases, April 2010’s Punk Goes Classic Rock, features some well done covers of classic rock hits.

One of the better tracks on the Punk Goes Classic Rock release is Hit the Lights’ version of Boston’s “More Than A Feeling.” While its nowhere near as good as the original, it is a decent attempt. It loses some of the emotion and melancholy, but not all, and manages to still convey the pain of loss.
